Sun & Sauvignon: Tour Vineyards near Torrevieja
12th March 2021
Torrevieja and the Costa Blanca may be better known for beautiful beaches than vineyards and wines, but the coast’s sunny Mediterranean climate is perfect for growing Moscatell grapes (used in sweet white Muscat, a popular dessert wine). Further inland, where the climate is drier, grapes for red Monastrell (or Mourvedre) wine are grown. These grapes produce a rich, full-bodied, rustic red wine with a history stretching back to 500 BC, when Phoenician seafarers brought the grape to this region.
If you consider yourself an oenophile (or just enjoy a glass while drinking in beautiful surroundings), exploring the vineyards near Torrevieja is a real treat. The region may not be as famous among wine lovers as Rioja and Ribero del Duero, but there is plenty of wonderful winemaking and gastronomy to uncover in the area. Here are a few of our favourite vineyards and wineries near Torrevieja…
