Torrevieja Nightlife: Having Fun & Staying Safe

2nd May 2023

Think back to your last, proper, hot holiday abroad…

How the setting sun changes everything. The colour, the shadows… You can feel the whole vibe of an area you’re not totally familiar with transforming around you.

It’s exciting.

And in Torrevieja, nightlife feels like a different world. There’s a build-up of anticipation, almost as if the air is changing. And as the transition from dusk to night completes, the energy of this seaside town changes, too.

Moods rise like the moon, and you just know it’s going to be a great night out when you hear joyous laughter being shared by friends and families – all thoroughly enjoying the night.

This is the Spanish way.

The midday siesta means people stay up later. Dinner times are late by English standards, and run long into the night. That’s a big part of the nightlife in Torrevieja: lots of people eating and drinking, usually outdoors if they can help it.

There’s a typical clubbing scene, but it’s all a bit more chilled and relaxed. That doesn’t mean it’s boring though – fun is out there to be had, and you don’t have to go far to find it.

So, let’s explore nightlife in Torrevieja, with some great nights out for couples, singles, straight and LGBTQ+ visitors – plus tips on staying safe.

Torrevieja nights out

Of all the things to do in Torrevieja, nightlife is one of the most commonly sought-after activities. And there really is something for everyone: for young people, couples, singles, as well as some great gay bars and clubs.

There’s live music, DJs, quiz and bingo nights galore, and plenty of cafés and tapas restaurants to spend a more relaxed evening in.

But when it comes down to it, Torrevieja nightlife revolves around the beachfront. Here, you’ll find bars, pubs and nightclubs. Restaurants and street food vendors stay open late, too. So, let’s take a look at some of the town’s hottest clubs and bars…

Keeper

Keeper is a staple of Torrevieja nightlife, serving great drinks (including cocktails and Sangria). It’s as popular with visitors as it is with locals, and serves food late as well.

Amaï Puerto

At 11:30pm, Amaï Puerto is where the party people go. The atmosphere is electric, with unique cocktails and great music. It’s a great spot for young people, singles – and even for older couples who’ve forgotten they were supposed to grow up!

Noisse Discoteca

Nights here can vary. With live music from quality acts (including some tributes to the classics), plus modern music and DJs, Noisse caters to everyone. The club welcomes younger teens, if supervised, to enjoy a proper night out with family or responsible adults.

LGBTQ+ nightlife in Torrevieja

Costa Blanca, and Spain as a whole, is one of the most gay-friendly places in the world. Welcoming hotels, bars, and services are easy to find throughout the province – where the pride flag waves year-round. Torrevieja is especially good for LGBTQ+ visitors.

And we couldn’t not mention ZOO at this point…

ZOO is safe and welcoming to everyone, but is marketed primarily as an LGBTQ+ nightclub. It’s known as the centre of the local LGBTQ+ community in Torrevieja, offering a fun and relaxed environment where everyone can be themselves.

But is Torrevieja in general a safe place for a night out?

Is Torrevieja safe?

Going on a night out anywhere away from home can be risky. You don’t know which parts to avoid, might not speak the local language – and it doesn’t even take any alcohol to become vulnerable when you’re out of your comfort zone.

But yes – Torrevieja is generally a very safe place, with a low overall crime rate. If you come from a UK town or city, it’s likely to be safer than home. But the catch is, you know your hometown inside out. You know where and when you need to be careful.

When we travel, we tend to drop our guard a bit. Just be aware of your surroundings, and take the same precautions as you would at home – and we guarantee you’ll have a night to remember!

“After visiting Torrevieja two or three times a year in various apartments in the last six years we have at last hit the jackpot. We have just returned from a two-week stay at the OrbiPlaya apartments. The apartment was spotlessly clean, modern, well equipped in an enviable position close to local shops, bars and restaurants and even for an old man like me, a pleasant 10-minute stroll to the main promenade. The lasting memory of this holiday is sitting on the balcony having breakfast watching the sun rise over the Med, truly stunning. An added bonus is your property managers who are there to ensure nothing spoils your holiday. We would not hesitate to recommend this holiday to anyone and enjoyed it so much we have already booked another two weeks in October and are looking at dates for 2012.”
