22nd September 2021
Getting to Torrevieja is easy – if you know where you’re going! Here’s a handy guide to getting to Los Locos Beach on your holiday to Torrevieja, including what to expect when coming from the airport.
Where is Torrevieja?
Torrevieja is on the south-eastern coast of Spain – on the Costa Blanca. It’s part of the province of Alicante. It’s a seaside town, with beautiful views and unique natural phenomena – like the Pink Lake of Torrevieja.
The easiest and quickest way to get to this part of Spain is by air, with ground transfers or taxi services to get you to your final destination.
Which airport should I use for Torrevieja?
Alicante Airport is a good airport to use if you’re travelling to Torrevieja. There is also Murcia’s Corvera Airport, which is about the same distance to Torrevieja as Alicante Airport, so you could use either airport. You may find better options with Corvera Airport Murcia instead (e.g. cheaper flights, or more readily available flights – depending on where you’re travelling from).
How far is Torrevieja from Alicante Airport?
Torrevieja is 27 miles down the coast from Alicante Airport. A car journey typically takes 45 minutes, but we’d allow for one hour to account for traffic during busier periods – although at the right time of day (early evening), you could be there in just 35 minutes.
Car hire, taxi and bus services can be booked online.
How much is a taxi from Alicante Airport to Torrevieja?
A taxi from Alicante Airport to Torrevieja costs between €50 and €60 and takes around 45 minutes. The coastal journey will take you past salt lake mines, rural sights and through the seaside towns of Costa Blanca. It’s the fastest, most convenient and most comfortable way to get from Alicante Airport to Los Locos Beach.
Alicante Airport bus transfers to Torrevieja
The Costa Azul bus line from Alicante Airport to Torrevieja opens daily at 8am, and the last service is at 10pm. Schedules vary and there can be two hours between buses, which takes over an hour to get to Torrevieja. The bus costs €7 per person per trip – solo travellers will find it more cost-effective, but families may prefer to pay a little extra for the convenience of a door-to-door taxi service.
How far is Los Locos Beach from the Costa Azul bus stop?
The Costa Azul bus terminal in Torrevieja is a 25-minute walk from Los Locos Beach – perfectly manageable for a light traveller, but for those with lots of luggage or with young children, it’s quite a long way to go.
A short taxi journey from the bus station to Los Locos Beach will take minutes and cost a few Euros, but again this would suit a solo traveller on a budget better than a family or group.
