Day Trips to Torrevieja: Can You Explore Torrevieja in a Day?

4th April 2023

Torrevieja's harbour
If you’ve ever visited Costa Blanca, you’re likely to have come across some day trips to Torrevieja – from Alicante, Murcia, or other nearby hotspots. And now, you might be wondering what to do in Torrevieja – and whether you could cram it all into one day?

No doubt, Torrevieja is a small town. But it would be absolutely impossible to soak it all up in one day. Just think about your hometown for a second; can you honestly say you’ve explored every nook and cranny, seen everything you’re interested in, or learned all there is to know about its history?

We’re based here in Torrevieja – and even we haven’t seen it all yet!

So, while there’s just too much to fit into a single day, this “highlights reel” of things to do in Torrevieja is just for day-trippers. And we bet you’ll love it so much that you’ll want to book your next holiday in Torrevieja…

So – without further ado, these are the top three things you couldn’t possibly leave without doing on a day trip to Torrevieja.

The top 3 things you can’t leave without doing

1. The Pink Lake

If you only do one thing on your day trip to Torrevieja, make it this. Laguna Rosa, a.k.a. the Pink Lake of Torrevieja, is simply the most captivating, iconic part of Torrevieja. This miraculous quirk of nature is one of the most visited places in the whole town, and for good reason. There’s only a handful of places like this in the whole world, and none of them are quite as electrifyingly pink as this one!

It’s the most active and productive salt lake in Europe, and a major part of the town’s economy – but it’s also of special scientific and ecological interest, so it’s well looked after by the local authority. If you get a chance to see it at sunset, you’ll be rewarded with the most spectacular pinks, oranges and blues you’ll ever see in your life. This alone will make you want to extend your day trip, but it’s really beautiful to behold at any time of day.

2. Hit the markets!

Torrevieja is famed for its markets – but what you get depends on the day (and time of day) you visit. There are stalls just about every day for crafts, food, clothes, and there are even night time markets (although most are morning markets). If you’re here on a Friday before 1pm, the Main Market is a must-see.

Torrevieja Main Market is one of Spain’s biggest local markets – easily the largest in the Costa Blanca. Up to a thousand stalls, with everything from fruit and vegetables, to unique fashion and collectibles. Oh, and there are plenty of street food vendors ready to give you a taste of the town!

3. A day at the beach

If you’re visiting from inland, don’t waste the chance to laze on a pristine, sun-drenched beach. In fact, why not come to Los Locos Beach, our very own beautiful stretch of sand and sea?!

Los Locos Beach is one of the top-rated attractions in Torrevieja. And maybe we’re a little biased, but we absolutely love it here. It’s conveniently located to everything you’ll need for the day; shops, amenities, food, entertainment – you name it. The sand’s soft and fine, and the water is clean and inviting. It’s everything that’s good about a day at the beach!

You know, it was actually really hard to pick only three things out of all the things to do in Torrevieja. But if we had to pick a perfect day, this is how we’d want to spend it.

Once you’ve been, we know you’ll want to come back… And we’d love to have you stay with us!
