How to Get to Torrevieja from Corvera Airport (Murcia)
2nd December 2021
In 2019, Murcia San Javier Airport (MJV) was closed to passenger traffic. It’s still in use as a military and emergency airfield, but commercial flights no longer land at Murcia. To replace Murcia Airport, Corvera Airport (also known as “Región de Murcia International Airport” – RMU) was opened on 15 January 2019 by the King of Spain – with a capacity of 3 million passengers per year!
It’s a modern and comfortable airport, with cafés, shops and great facilities. Direct flights to Corvera Airport are available from London airports, Manchester, Bristol, Birmingham, Bournemouth, Glasgow and Leeds.
While it’s not as close to Torrevieja as Alicante Airport, it’s still an excellent alternative route to take if you’d prefer to fly from your local airport (or happen to find a better deal on flights to Corvera Airport).

It’s a beautiful journey – but driving in Spain might not be everyone’s cup of tea. Thankfully, there are taxis to Torrevieja as well as airport bus transfers from Corvera Airport, which take the hassle out of finding your way around and driving on unfamiliar roads.
How much is a taxi from Corvera Airport to Torrevieja?
Taxis from Corvera Airport to Torrevieja cost between €40 and €55, depending on the time of day (some firms charge an additional night rate of €10) and season. You can book a taxi through these highly-rated local companies:
Taxis are available on-demand, too – but it’s best to book to guarantee a quick transfer. Travel times are roughly the same as if you were to drive a rental (50 minutes to an hour), but probably a bit quicker with a cabbie who knows their way around!
Private hire minibus services are available, too, with costs starting at around €75.
Corvera Airport bus transfers
Unlike Murcia Airport, which had direct bus transfer options, Corvera Airport does not run a direct bus service to Torrevieja – but buses do run with changeovers.
On the plus side, bus fare is very reasonable at €10 to €15, depending on time and season; but for multiple travellers, that per-head cost soon adds up – and a taxi starts looking like a far better prospect.
With a total travel time of three and a half hours to make the 38-mile journey, the bus isn’t the fastest or most convenient way to get to Torrevieja – so we’d recommend a taxi instead. If you’d still prefer to ride the bus, you can view bus information and times on the Corvera Airport website.
