6 Things to Do in Torrevieja When It’s Raining

9th January 2017

Rainy day in Torrevieja

When we sit at our desks daydreaming about our next getaway, we very seldom picture grey rainy days or bad weather – but even holidays to the sunniest corners of Spain can be blighted by rain.

Just because the sky gets a little soggy, however, is no excuse not to enjoy your time away. If the skies get cloudy during your stay in Torrevieja, we’ve put together some top tips which will ensure a little drizzle spoil your time in the area.

Umbrellas at the ready as we share a few of our favourite things to do in and around Torrevieja on rainy days…

1. Hit the shops on the Zenia Boulevard

Just South of Torrevieja you’ll find one of Alicante’s best spots for shopping until you drop. With a huge array of global brands including Zara, Primark, Mango and many more, there’s plenty of opportunity for retail therapy which will keep you out of the rain at this huge centre.

2. Be bowled over at Ozone Bowling

When the weather takes a turn for the worse and the kids start to get a little stir crazy, Torrevieja’s bowling alley Ozone Bowling is a safe bet for entertainment which will get the whole family competing. Who needs sunshine to have fun?

3. Visit the Natural History Museum

Full of marine mammals and natural history relating to the Mediterranean which has sustained Torrevieja and the local area for generation after generation, this little museum is an interesting spot to pass the time while the weather is less than lovely. It’s open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 10am-2pm.

4. Learn about the local area at the Sea & Salt Museum

For even more education about the area, a stop at the contemporary-looking Sea and Salt Museum will prove an eye opener. Packed with traditional crafts and the history of Torrevieja, there’s plenty of local knowledge to collect here on rainy days.

5. Enjoy some culture at the Municipal Theatre

If the weather is likely to be soggy all evening, check out what’s on the schedule at the Municipal Theatre. This is where most of Torrevieja’s cultural events are celebrated and you may find a gig or performance which takes your fancy.

6. Treat yourself to a meal at El Meson De La Costa

One of Torrevieja’s most rated restaurants, El Meson De La Costa is a great spot for whiling away a good portion of a rainy day with some fantastic seafood, meats and a bottle or two of wonderful wine.

With plenty of sunshine and pleasantly mild weather throughout the autumn and winter, Torrevieja even makes a fantastic holiday destination in the rain! Book a self-catered apartment on the sands of the Playa de Los Locos today!

“We’ve stayed at Los Locos Apartments before and we enjoy the location, the beach, nice walkways along the sea to Playa Del Cura and the pier. It’s close to the weekly market and Consum supermarket. We will gladly recommend your apartments to friends and family and we will come back and rent from you again.”
