6 Best Activities in Torrevieja for Kids
4th March 2017
Are you taking your kids to Torrevieja? There’s plenty of fun to be had in this sunny corner of the Costa Blanca for youngsters of all ages. A brilliantly family friendly spot, you’ll find no shortage of restaurants that welcome children, and – with so much to do – there’s absolutely no chance that your little ones will have any opportunity to get bored.
Whether you’re looking for a fun family day out, or want somewhere to leave your little lovelies while you enjoy some hard-earned rest and relaxation, we’ve picked out our 6 favourite activities for you to try on your next Torrevieja holiday.
1. Play on the roof at La Zenia Shopping Centre
There’s a fantastic play space located on the roof of La Zenia Shopping Centre (which is also a fabulous shopping destination for parents in need of a little retail therapy). If you’re a couple, one of you can watch the kids frolicking in the playground’s water fountains while the other hits the shops! Within the centre there is a huge screen where visitors can play video games, while an ice rink also pops up nearby during the winter.
2. Hit the beach
Can you think of a child who doesn’t love the beach? Ice cream, sand castles, swimming, splashing and playing all day – what’s not to love? Visitors to Torrevieja are spoiled for choice when it comes to beaches. Playa del Cura is one of the most popular, with plenty of sand, surf, plus nearby shops and bars. Just to the North, Playa de la Mata offers even longer expanses of sand, for a more relaxing visit and a lovely stroll down the boardwalk too. And there is – of course – the Playa de Los Locos, which is our personal favourite (but then we would say that)…!
3. Be amazed by the pink lake
The Torrevieja Salt Lakes are a fascinating place for youngsters and adults alike. With plenty of space to run around and play, this is a great spot for getting some fresh air – and a fun science lesson! While one of the salt lakes is green, the other is a dazzling pink colour, all thanks to algae.
4. Have all the fun of the fair
From June until September, Torrevieja’s harbour is home to a lovely little funfair, full of all the stuff kids go crazy for: rides, candy floss, bumper cars and silly games!
5. Climb aboard a submarine
The Spanish Armada’s very first submarine, the Delfin S-61, is now a floating museum in Torrevieja’s harbour. The history might not necessarily fascinate your little ones, but the opportunity to climb aboard a real-life submarine will certainly capture their imagination.
6. Play a round of mini golf
Mini golf is a fun activity the whole family can enjoy. Salinero Square is one of the best spots to get a hole in one in Torrevieja and to have a real giggle with your youngsters. Lo Rufete Multi Adventure Park also has a course alongside ziplines, paintball, quad biking, horse riding and kayaking too, if you’re feeling more adventurous.
