Seasoned sailors can easily explore countless coastal spots dotted around this calm section of the Mediterranean Sea, and most are just a short journey over the waves from Torrevieja.

But you don’t need your own boat to access the big blue. There are plenty of tours and day trips on offer – and if you’re in the mood for a voyage, we’ve compiled a list of five of the best boat trips from Torrevieja.

1. Tabarca

Photo of the island of Tabarca, Spain from aboveTabarca is one of the most popular boat trips from Torrevieja, and it’s easy to see why.

The tiny island – of just 68 inhabitants, according to the last census – has a rich history. It was once home to pirates, used as a base for raids and battles.

Things are a lot calmer today, and this paradise island now attracts snorkelers and scuba divers, thanks to its sparkling, pollution-free waters. Tabarca is located in the heart of a maritime reserve, and sealife absolutely thrives in the surrounding area.

Boat trips from Torrevieja to Isla Tabarca take around an hour – but the journey is scenic and enjoyable.
